Meet Kathy

Kathy Kale Nelson is an author, STEM advocate, and curious storyteller who writes books that invite children—especially girls—to discover the wonder in science, technology, and the world around them.

An electrical engineer with decades of experience, Kathy has also hosted a podcast where she’s interviewed hundreds of women in STEM, giving her a unique perspective on the importance of normalizing girls and women in these fields from an early age.

Through her picture book series, Kathy blends imagination with real science—from returning lost stars to exploring Antarctica and uncovering the magic of math. Her mission is to spark curiosity and help children feel seen, inspired, and empowered—just as they are.
